How to Use a Personal Alarm

First off: Keep it handy.
When you take your new personal alarm out of its package, make sure you find a convenient home for it. It won’t do you any good at the bottom of a purse, deep in a pocket of a backpack, or way down at the bottom of your car’s center console. Your personal alarm might have a keychain, snap clip, or a full clip – use those!

Personal alarms are really smart safety tools for two main reasons:
• Number one: they can startle, disorient, and even scare off a potential attacker.
• Number two: they draw attention to a threatening situation, and can summon for help.

This helps allow you precious seconds to get away to safety, so it’s so important to keep your personal alarm (and any personal safety product) accessible.

Second: Sound the a.larm
Then, take a look at what kind of personal alarm you have. Get comfortable with it in your hand, and let’s practice once how you’d situate yourself in a moment of danger.

Most SABRE personal alarms sound at above 120dB. That means they’re audible from 600 to over 1,300 feet away; that’s anywhere from two to over four football fields away!

If you have a keychain or snap clip model, simply pull the pin out. Insert the pin back in to silence the alarm. If you have a clip model, simply press the alarm button on the side. Press again to silence the alarm. Be safe, go confidently, and trust your instincts – they’re usually right.
